All sin is an offence against an eternal holy God, worthy of an eternal Hell. There may be degrees of sin in our human perspective but all sin is still sin in God’s eyes.
We can view homosexuality to be worse than hating sinful people. Religious people can think they are in the right to hate homosexuals because God hates it. But while God shows mercy to them while they are on this earth (Matthew 5:43-45), religious people often show no such mercy. God will bring justice to all sin but does not wish for anyone to perish in Hell (2 Peter 3:9).
If gays only ever hear law (that they are sinners) and hatred from Christians, how can homosexuals possibly be motivated to repent? Yes, the truth of sin must be declared but it needs to be in love (Romans 7:7, 2 Corinthians 3:6).
Homosexuality is a sin. Unforgiveness is a sin. Both go against God. But both and all sin can be made right through Christ.
