We are given all good things in life from God. A body, food, drink, work, sex, etc. But being imperfect humans, even Christians still sin and can make a mess of the gift of life.
Identifying as an evil sinner, we then feel unworthy of any good thing and feel like we need to punish ourselves to earn God’s favour back.
God never gave us any good thing because we earned it, they are gifts. God can repair the gifts we have broken. And lavishes us with even more good gifts that we don’t deserve. The greatest of gifts being the grace of God demonstrated through Jesus Christ saving us from our sins.
When you sin, don’t dwell on your mistake or identify with being unworthy or evil. They are irrelevant. God gave us salvation when we were the worst of sinners.
Like a father wants to give good gifts to his children, God wants to give everyone good things.
