.I know this smells a bit like a prosperity gospel but that is the last thing I want to promote.
God wants to give us good things (even earthly things) but they are not promised. And God will give earthly blessings when He sees it is right, not because you believe enough or do enough.
God is not a magic genie, giving you whatever you want, whenever you want it.
God is like a father, giving good things to his children. But God will give them when He sees fit.
This also has similarities to King Solomon who asked for wisdom from God. Because of this God decided to also give him great earthly blessings too.
