Many don’t realise love is not just about the positive feelings you get when you are with a person. Real love withstands negative emotions too. Anyone can love someone who shows them love, but real and mature love, loves even in the bad times.
This is something every single person should realise before getting into a relationship. A good strong relationship isn’t about the selfish feelings you get from the other person when they are at their best.
It’s about each person having self sacrificing love for each other, whether you are at your best or worst.
Christ demonstrates this love as He gave of himself and gave His life for the Church. While the Church were still sinners, Christ died for them. Not that we earnt it, He just freely gave. This is the example husbands should follow when it comes to their wives. To love them at their best and their worst.
